The highest court in New Jersey has tossed the $70 million verdict in a recent medical malpractice verdict – the highest ever awarded in state history. The case centered on a boy who suffered brain damage as an infant. If you or someone you love has been injured as a result of insufficient medical care, contact the New Jersey malpractice attorneys of Levinson-Axelrod may be able to help.

According to the 6-0 ruling of the court, the main reason for ordering a new trial for the case is due to jury bias in the case. The justices wrote in their opinion that the jury had been given an unfair and biased opinion of the medical community and medical professionals, which had overly influenced them when deciding the verdict. A new trial is being scheduled, the decision of which will replace the overturned one.
