Boston doctor admits to surgical error

Posted on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 at 12:04 pm

A Boston doctor issued a public mea culpa admitting that he made a surgical error on an elderly woman’s hand.

The doctor, a hand and arm doctor in Boston, performed the wrong procedure on the woman’s hand and described the mistakes in a magazine. The mistakes lead him to perform carpal tunnel syndrome surgery on the woman instead of a procedure for her “trigger finger.”

The doctor said that he came forward so that better procedures could be developed and others would not make the same mistake.
