Family files wrongful death lawsuit against city of Chicago

Posted on Thursday, December 29th, 2011 at 12:15 am

The family of a man who was found hanging while in the custody of Chicago Police, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Chicago.

The man was found hanging in Area 2 of the police department and three days later, another detainee was also found hanging in this area. The police commander who used to be in charge of Area 2 was convicted after he lied about inflicting pain against black males while they were detained.  Both of the man who died were black.

The family of  one of the men who died wants their questions answered and have stated that an investigation done internally will not be thorough enough. They are seeking to understand the history of Area 2.
