New York Family Wins $3.1 Million Malpractice Suit

The family of a man who died from a preventable heart attack have won a verdict for $3.1 million in a New York State trial.

The man had begun complaining of cardiac symptoms back in 2002. He visited the South Shore Heart facility for tests to determine whether or not he had occlusive artery disease. A nuclear stress test came back negative.

Almost two years later, he went to his physician with similar complaints. The doctor did not order a new test, instead relying on the dated results of the earlier test. The man suffered a heart attack six months later and died as the result of a condition which could have been diagnosed.

The man’s widow and his children were awarded a $3.1 million verdict for the gross medical malpractice.

California Hospital Misplaces Baby’s Body for 6 Days

California hospital Kaiser Permanente lost the body of a premature baby for six days before finding it again.
